On Being A Woman Of God | written by Anel Coetzee

Eve is the first woman we read about in the Bible. It states that God created them male and female. Gen 1:29 says: “And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth…” This is one of our (both male and female) first assignments from God: to multiply. Ever since, we, as women, have been in the business of multiplication. You give a woman a seed; she will give you a child. You give her a house; she will make it a home. Buy her groceries and she will give you a meal. You, woman of God, have a very clear and concise assignment and even though not all of us bear children, we are ordained by God to rule and dominate the earth.

We are important. By default. Why then does it happen so often that we feel dissatisfied. Not enough, a failure, not seen, loved and accepted? Blessed One, this is exactly what the enemy (the devil) wants you to think! We make it so easy for him sometimes. He just has to put a small thought into our minds if we are not careful. And what do we do with that thought? A friend of mine calls it: “nurse, curse and rehearse”. We nurse the thought that is not from God about our identity. We even make it multiply and grow until we believe what we think! Hear me today: do not believe everything you think!

Numerous times I have asked why, why, why does this happen to us? Regardless of how vigilant we are, we constantly have to be on our guard against the “fiery darts” as Paul calls it in Ephesians 6: 16. God gave me this revelation. Very, very early in the Bible God actually announced in Genesis 3:15: (KJV) “And I will put enmity between thee (the snake) and the woman, and between thy seed and her Seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His Heel”. See? Between her and her enemy. Not only will he have enmity towards her. She will push back with just as much and more because God said so.

We do know that “it shall bruise your head” refers to the victory that Jesus won on the cross and “you shall bruise His Heel” refers to the suffering of Christ on the cross. The part we need to play now is to do what Paul tells us to do in Ephesians 6: 13: “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand”.

It is not a one- way street. Enmity is a state of being hostile or actively opposed. And that is exactly what we need to do as women. To be actively opposed to or stand against the works of the enemy. There are definitely moments where I feel that the enmity is very real in my life. I, as a woman, want to represent the opposition to the enemy. When a woman steps into her purpose she is indeed opposition to the enemy.

This is a word for you, woman of God. You are opposition! When you step into your purpose, you are the enemy’s worst nightmare and greatest threat. She will fight back for her family, her community and whoever and whatever is near and dear to her. She will take back the territory destined for her by the word of her testimony and by the blood of the Lamb. It is not by power or by strength but by His spirit, says the Lord. We must know the promises He made to us.

There will always be tribulations. God said so. John 16:33: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. (NKJV)

Our God has overcome the world. Jesus announced this. We win!. The end of the book has already been written.

Be of good cheer, my dear Sister. We win because Christ has won.

Much love.
