2023 is here! What are your expectations for this year?

That was one of the questions I asked myself early in the morning on the 31st of December, knowing that 2022 was not exactly  how  I had expected it to be. How quickly do you then do some introspection and wonder how much of the outcome of 2022 was because of your own decisions, fate, other people’s expectations of you?

One of my cousins made a joke about me some time back – he said to a friend of mine, “Ah you know, with Philippa the 80/20 rule applies”. My friend looked puzzled, and he explained, “80% of the things Philippa says are all talk, but then 20% of the things she says, you know you must listen to!” Understandably, my initial reaction was total shock and utter disgust (especially because in the same breath he says I’m his favourite cousin),  But now, a couple of years later, it is something I’ve been thinking about quite frequently.

There is a scripture in Colossians 4 that says your conversation must be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. How many of us get that right? Maybe this is something I need to consider working on in 2023. Let my words be gracious and attractive! Another scripture just to underline this, but not a very comfortable one for the reader is Ecclesiastes 5,  and there it is made clear that you should not be quick with your mouth, and it also says not to be impulsive with your heart to utter anything before God. Listen to the rest of that scripture: “As a dream comes when there are many cares, so the speech of a fool when there are many words”. I’m going to leave that here for you to think about.

Someone one day said to me, “Philippa whatever you put on display is what you will attract”. Now this can apply to so many things in life. In this magazine we have a very broad readership of women from all walks of life: grandmothers, moms, wives, businesswomen, housewives (not only from Pretoria ), single women, women of different sexual orientation, ladies that work in the clothing industry, ladies that work for people in homes, the cashiers at Pick and Pay, waitresses, teachers,  accountants, and the list goes on and on.

My message to you is: you are the carrier of your own happiness, you are the person who counts in 2023. Make a choice at the beginning of 2023 to choose you every time. No, I’m not saying be selfish, I’m saying be happy, because if your heart is not laughing you face won’t be laughing either. Put the best you on display every day; wake up, get up, dress up and show up, even if you don’t have the energy to, because if you do it long enough you will see that  what you are projecting is what is coming back to you.

Here at Beloved Magazine, we are here for you, and I will always be a phone call away, but it is always your choice! You

Go for your dreams, be wise in what you say and enjoy every moment of 2023. We have loads and loads of fun and exciting new things heading your way, so stay tuned! Oh, and if you enjoy the magazine, please tell your friends about it.

You are Loved
