It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year | Thandy Mkhambi

I want to take a moment to reflect on the year that is coming to an end. Looking back on 2022, I thank the Lord that His mercies are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23). I crawled into this year battling my third Covid19 infection, and every morning when I wake up, I have a new- found appreciation for this scripture. The Lord would wake me in the morning and give me a fresh portion of mercy. I have never had such an appreciation of mercy as I do right now. Understanding back then that there was absolutely nothing I could do to heal myself, and I was powerless to afford myself another breath; I had “Goodness of God” on repeat in my room, and the truth of those words allowed my spirit to find safety and security in the Lord. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6). NKJV

There have been other challenges that I have been faced with this year, but God’s mercy has carried me through all of it, and I am assured daily that He will never leave me nor forsake me, and He is an ever- present help in times of need. Perspective is about choice. Choosing to see God’s hand in every situation enables you to have healthy perspective of the Father that sent His son to earth to die out of love.

So, as we wrap up this month and year, I gift you the song by Jenn Johnson called “Goodness of God” which opens with this line: “I love You Lord, for your mercy never fails me. All my days, I’ve been held in your hand. From the moment that I wake up, till I lay my head, I will sing of the goodness of God.” Make a cup of tea, put this song on repeat and list the ways in which the Lord has been merciful to you in 2022.
